Senior Art Director [South Africa]


 
Responsibilities:
  • Understand what makes GREAT creative ideas.
  • Work on projects from start-to-finish

    Translate clients marketing objectives into clear, compelling, brand-appropriate ideas.
  • Produce creative concepts with a clear rationale to accompany the work.
  • Demonstrate great layout principles and an eye for good aesthetic design and visual communication.
  • Act as a brand guardian for the client following guidelines and tone of voice documents.
  • Understand what makes GREAT creative ideas and execute accordingly.
  • Participate in the development of creative materials, from concept to execution.
  • Translate clients marketing objectives into clear, compelling, brand-appropriate ideas.
  • Ensure that all work meets or exceeds the quality standards of the agency.
  • Undertake internal work for the business as and when its required.
  • Mentoring of junior creatives.

Requirements:
  • Work closely with the wider client team and subject experts, to ensure consistency and accuracy across all messaging.
  • Make proactive recommendations for the direction of client projects.
  • Undertake research and develop an understanding of the client's target audience and competitor products.
  • Have an appreciation for metrics and can make recommendations on how to measure the success of campaigns.
  • Form close relationships with the team to source product information and product selling points.
  • Create original ideas across a variety of channels to a high standard, meeting tight deadlines.
  • Be able to work independently but also as a team with the other art directors.

Experience and Skills:
  • Creating original, impactful and engaging work across categories that stands out from the crowd.
  • The ability to conceptualise and execute concepts that motivates and sells.
  • The ability to plan and work out strategies for high-profile projects.
  • An excellent team player: collaborative and adept at building relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Must work well under pressure and manage workloads and multiple projects effectively.
  • Be self-motivated, proactive and collaborative, with a can-do attitude.
  • Great layout principles and an eye for good aesthetic design and visual communication
  • Attention to detail.
  • All-round organisational skills.
  • Competent Mac user with relevant tech skills to be able to produce work electronically, and present online.

10+ years of relevant experience:
  • Conceptual through the line campaigns
  • Strong experience working with and presenting to clients
  • Expert understanding of Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
  • Client sensitivity: understanding problems from a client perspective
  • Time management: planning and executing work in a timely and efficient manner
  • Communication skills: ability to communicate verbally as well as in writing
  • Team and leadership skills: ability to work collaboratively and lead in presentations
  • Able to think strategically and ideate from a strategic brief
  • Multimedia skills will be a huge bonus
  • Illustration skills are always a bonus (but not mandatory)
