Your Responsibilities
As HPC specialist, you are part of the Scientific Computing facility at ISTA which works closely with our scientists to provide support in the transition of scientific problems into computing solutions. In addition, Scientific Computing provides the infrastructure for running such computations in the form of our ISTA HPC cluster. If you want to support basic research and solve challenging requests from top scientists in their field, you are the perfect fit for this interesting position.
- Together with a team of specialists, you design, deploy and run our HPC cluster
- You provide expert support for our users running their jobs on the cluster
- In this position, you will monitor systems, networks and the security of the HPC environment
- We provide the possibility to attend trainings & conferences so you can stay up to date with international and national developments in the HPC community
- To ensure, that our infrastructure can be used efficiently, you will provide documentation and training for our users
Your Profile
- Education in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math or related technical discipline
- Proven experience with Linux system administration and IT automation (Ansible)
- Experience with file-systems in a HPC environments (BeeGFS, NFS, ZFS,…)
- Familiarity with scientific tools and programming languages like Python, Matlab, C, C++
- Hands on experience with job scheduling and resource management tools (SLURM)
- Some experience with HPC network architecture such as InfiniBand
- Experience with MPI, OpenMP, CUDA and similar libraries is a plus
- Good communication skills and good command of the English language
