Who we are looking for: We are seeking a part-time Data Collection Assistant to support one of our long-standing projects with the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office Gang Reduction and Youth Development Office. The project is grant-funded and renews annually; therefore, the Data Collection Assistant position is contingent on the project continuing to be renewed. We have confirmed funding for July 2023-Jun 2024 and our ideal candidate is available to serve in this role for at least this one year. Future years of funding are possible but not guaranteed.

This key duties of this position include: processing a screening tool that community-based providers use to determine youths’ eligibility for gang prevention and intervention services; downloading and verifying information on this screening tool that is sent to us by the community-based providers; verifying that the data included in the files does not have errors before submitting the records into the database; integrating data into a data collection software (Remark); cleaning data using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (IBM SPSS); and merging data into a database (Efforts to Outcomes, ETO).

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately transfer data from one platform to another
  • Commitment to accuracy, data integrity and high-quality work
  • Knowledge of basic quantitative research methods
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to draft clear, professional emails
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and ask for support when needed
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware
  • Familiarity with other software programs such as Qualtrics, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and/or Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) is helpful, but not required

Typical physical demands include:

  • Working on a computer for 6-8 hours a day. See next section for work schedule expectations

Work location, schedule, and pay:

This is a remote position, (i.e., working from home), however the candidate must reside within California. Harder+Company will provide the candidate with the necessary office equipment (e.g. laptop, software, etc.) to fulfill the job duties.

During an initial 2–3-week training period this position is expected to work 12-16 hours per week. Once the initial training period is complete, this position will range between 20-26 hours per week. Two non-consecutive 8-hour weekdays are required (e.g., M/W or Tues/Thurs, Monday/Thurs, etc.). Working hours will generally be during standard business hours (approx. between 9am-5pm).

The salary range for this position is $45,409 – $61,301/yr. plus a benefits package including pro-rated health insurance benefits, sick time, vacation time, holiday pay and may also be eligible to participate in our retirement plan.
